ABOUT US
Every framing project at Penland is handled start to finish by our experienced staff in Greensboro. With more than a century of combined experience, we know how to match the right materials and design to whatever you bring in, whether it’s a fine painting, a cherished keepsake, or everyday pieces that deserve to look their best.

We’re all here with a hundred-year-old building, an unrivaled music collection, opinions, stories, humor, kindness, and creativity in abundance. Penland Custom Frames is all that, and more. Come in and meet us!

PENLAND CUSTOM FRAMES TEAM

John Poss, the shop’s owner since February 2024, has been framing at Penland’s since 2014 and has worked as a custom picture framer for more than 16 years. He enjoys the precision and attention to detail that fine art demands and values the trust customers place in us when they bring in their treasured pieces.

Noni Penland, who founded the shop in 1996, has been framing for more than 45 years. She’s always loved color, style, and design — a combination that gives her a distinctive creative touch. Her greatest love is people, and she’s a joy to everyone who knows her.

Mina Penland Fuller has been a joyful and creative part of the team for more than eight years. Often the first to arrive, her warm smile and great taste in music get the day started right. She has a keen eye for design and is also a retired performing artist who spent many years as an actor.

Katie Armistead, the newest member of our group, brings nearly 40 years of framing experience. She is also an artist and a retired art teacher who worked in the Guilford County School System.

William Lewis is our helper who reminds us to live one day at a time and inspires thoughtful conversations. His laughter is contagious!

Dianne Ellis has been part of Penland Custom Frames since 1998. A graduate of Mercer University with a BA in Art, she’s known for her restoration and calligraphy skills. These days she focuses on her art career but still lends her talents to special projects she enjoys.

Nikki Dale-Oaster rounds out our band of characters as our bookkeeper and the final word!

COMMUNITY

Since our doors opened, Penland Custom Frames has been dedicated to supporting the arts in all their forms. We believe that opera, museums, music, and theater don’t just entertain; they inspire, educate, and bring people together. These creative spaces help nourish the soul of a community, and we are proud to contribute to their continued success.

We also believe in being a good neighbor, lending support where we can and helping those in our community who are facing harder times.
