PENLAND CUSTOM FRAMES TEAM

John Poss, the shop's owner since February 2024, has been framing for Penland’s since 2014 and has worked as a custom picture framer for more than 16 years. He enjoys the precision and attention to detail that fine art requires and appreciates the trust our customers place in us when they bring in their treasured possessions.

Noni Penland founded the shop in 1996 and has been framing pictures for more than 45 years. She has always loved color, style, and design—a combination that gives her a unique ability to create. Her greatest love is people, and she is a joy to all who know her.

Mina Penland Fuller has been a joyous and creative team member for more than 8 years. Often the first to arrive, her warm smile and great taste in music get the day started right. She has a keen eye for design and is also a retired performing artist, having worked as an actor for many years.

Katie Armistead, the newest member of our group, brings nearly 40 years of framing experience. She is also an artist and a retired art teacher who worked in the Guilford County School System.

William Lewis is our helper who reminds us to live one day at a time and inspires thoughtful conversations. His laughter is contagious!

Dianne Ellis has been part of Penland Custom Frames since 1998. A graduate of Mercer University with a BA in Art, she’s known for her restoration and calligraphy skills. These days she focuses on her art career but still lends her talents to special projects she enjoys.

Nikki Dale-Oaster rounds out our band of characters as our bookkeeper and the final word!

COMMUNITY

Since our doors opened, Penland Custom Frames has been dedicated to supporting the arts in all their forms. We believe that opera, museums, music, and theater don’t just entertain; they inspire, educate, and bring people together. These creative spaces help nourish the soul of a community, and we are proud to contribute to their continued success.

We also believe in being a good neighbor, lending support where we can and helping those in our community who are facing harder times.
