With more than a century of combined experience, we know how to match the right materials and design to whatever you bring in, whether it’s a fine painting, a cherished keepsake, or everyday pieces that deserve to look their best.

PENLAND CUSTOM FRAMES TEAM
John Poss, the shop’s owner since February 2024, has been framing at Penland’s since 2014 and has more than 17 years of custom framing experience. He enjoys the precision that fine framing requires and values the trust customers place in us when they bring in artwork and other treasured pieces.
Noni Penland, who founded the shop in 1996, has been framing for more than 45 years. She’s always loved color, style, and design—a combination that gives her a distinctive creative touch. Her greatest love is people, and she’s a joy to everyone who knows her.
Mina Penland Fuller has been a joyful and creative part of the team for more than eight years. Her warm smile and love of music help make the shop a welcoming place to visit, and she has a great eye for design. She is also a retired performing artist who spent many years as an actor.
Katie Armistead, the newest member of our team, brings nearly 40 years of framing experience. She is also an artist with a BFA from UNC Greensboro and a retired art teacher who spent 31 years in art education with the Guilford County School System.
Nikki Dale-Oaster rounds out our band of characters as our bookkeeper and the final word! Outside the shop, she's a yoga instructor who makes balancing on her head look easy.

Since our doors opened, Penland Custom Frames has been dedicated to supporting the arts in all their forms. We believe that opera, museums, music, and theater don’t just entertain; they inspire, educate, and bring people together. These creative spaces help nourish the soul of a community, and we are proud to contribute to their continued success.
